Harry Wynn is an award-winning filmmaker based in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2023, he was honoured as the SPADA New Filmmaker of the Year, recognising his innovative contributions to the field. He is being mentored by the renowned filmmaker Sally Aitken through the FilmUp programme run by Script to Screen.
Harry is directing the documentary series Queer Aotearoa. Set for a 2025 release on TVNZ during Pride month, this series explores New Zealand’s LGBTQ+ history through a millennial lens. His recent work includes Shred (2022), a short documentary that follows a teenage bodybuilder's all-encompassing journey to compete at the highest level. Harry’s prior projects include Young & Hooked on Chemsex (2021), a compelling look at the impact of methamphetamine on Auckland’s gay hookup scene, which screened on TVNZ+, and Three Ticks Chlöe (2020), a film about the dynamic millennial politician Chlöe Swarbrick's fight against the political establishment.
Harry produced the short documentary Out There (2024) for Loading Docs about a clandestine group that channels their hope into extraterrestrial phenomena, and the New Zealand Film Commission short film, Rice Run (2025) about a child of immigrant parents who struggles with the expectations of working in his parent’s restaurant while wanting to be like any other kid who wants to hang out with his friends. With a background in production management, Harry has worked on numerous television productions for companies like Greenstone TV, Attitude, and Stripe Studios, which have screened on platforms such as Bravo, TVNZ, and RNZ.
